Many know Sugarbush for their award winning terrain (and yes it is some of the best terrain in the East!), but they're much, much more than that. The natural beauty and mountain environment provide a striking setting and a true escape from the everyday. Their home - the Mad River Valley - provides a reason in and of itself to visit Sugarbush. "The Valley" as locals call it, is full of Vermont charm and empty of stop lights and fast food joints. Quirky shops, great restaurants, artisan galleries, covered bridges, church steeples, and more…all strung together by the winding Mad River. Come visit!

Sugarbush Resort, tucked against the 4,000’ mountains that surround Warren, VT, is a remarkable four-season mountain destination in central Vermont’s sweeping Mad River Valley. Located just 50 minutes south of the Burlington International Airport and only a short drive off I-89, the Resort’s 54 miles of trails offer the most diverse terrain in the East. The Slide Brook Basin, a 2000-acre wilderness area that lies between Sugarbush’s Mount Ellen and Lincoln Peak, is an adventurer’s paradise. Guided snowshoe, ski and snowboard tours provide outdoor lovers not only the chance to spy bear and moose, but also the opportunity to have a true backcountry experience. As quoted in Ski Magazine, “Sugarbush is to Vermont what Steamboat is to Colorado.”
With over 4,000 acres spilling from a five-mile wide ridgeline, you’ll see why Sugarbush, in Warren, Vermont, is like no other resort in the East. And this December it will open a mountain village that reflects the splendor of its surroundings.
The new Lincoln Peak Village, the most ambitious project in the Resort’s almost 50-year history, features three new facilities to cater to guests’ wants. Clay Brook, the cornerstone of the revitalization, offers slopeside luxury suites available both for nightly rental as well as whole and fractional ownership.
The brand new Gate House lodge, double the size of the old building, lets skiers and riders relax and recharge with a food court, pub and café and a post-and-beam dining area with ample space for friends and families to eat together. And just across the new courtyard, Timbers restaurant, featuring 45-foot cathedral ceilings, will offer guests upscale cuisine and a slopeside dining experience.

February 07, 2010 Mountain Hardwear Ski Mountaineering Race
The Randonnee Rally Race Series is a series of ski mountaineering races held at some of the premier resorts in North America. The Race Series tests the competitor's endurance, equipment and skiing skills while skinning up and and skiing down some fo the toughest terrain that these resorts and their surrounding mountains have to offer.
The short description of this event is that it's a backcountry race that starts at Mad River Glen and ends at the Lincoln Peak Base area at Sugarbush. The details are more like this...
Competitors begin at the Mad River Glen base and ski up the Antelope Slope. Once to the summit, they traverse the Long Trail to Mount Ellen, where they descend to the Slide Brook Basin via Rim Run, Lower Rim Run, and Lower F.I.S.
After ascending through the Slide Brook area on work roads, competitors take one of two routes - the recreational divison ascending Village Run to the base of the North Lynx Chair while the race division ascends up work roads to the summit of North Lynx Chair and then down to the base of that chair via Birch Run. The rest of the run is all downhill from this point, The rest of the course is all downhill from this point, with racers in both divisions continuing on Castlerock Connection, through Header, and down to the finish at the Valley House by way of the Lower Jester and Coffee Run trails.
Sound fun? Registration information can be found online at the USSMA website. This event is open to skiers, telemarkers, and split-board snowboarders, and will feature some of the fastest ski mountaineering racers in the U.S.
